I’m Like Nelly Furtado
I’m beautiful, that’s for sure—
grass cradles me like an egg.
Baby, round body of light I rise
like a tree—arm branches, leafy hair,
I swallow the heat of the world
like a pelican does the sea.
My mouth is a nest
for feather, shell, a future for all
I will be. I’m a breath, a soft/moody glow,
a floating possibility.
I could fly away, but I don’t.
I know where my home is, I fall
into my own arms.
