WINTER 2023

All artwork for this issue is by visual artist and poet Trudie Shannon:

“My name is Trudie Shannon. I am an artist and poet born and raised in Guernsey, in the Channel Islands. I have painted since I was eighteen years old and written poetry since I was nine years old. Whether I am an artist who writes or a poet who paints I’m never sure. Both art forms have simply been an integral part of my life much as breathing, eating, sleeping. I have, in the past, worked with children with behavioural and emotional difficulties both in a school situation and in care and have used both mediums as a form of communication between us. The language of the arts is universal, has no barriers, ‘is truly a gateway into the soul.’ On paper, whether in word or image, I release what resides within, rarely conscious of what will emerge. I do not set out to achieve, simply to express and to share.”
